All this culminates into excitement when the Sr-71 passes overhead the first time. Only 3 flights were made in freezing weather, so further experience will tell. But, she handled well albeit VERY sensitive to aileron inputs. EXPO needed!!! Unless you have experience flying high performance EDF jets, wait until you get some before you purchase the SR-71. However, once I learn her better, I have no doubt she’ll be an awesome addition to my stable.

                          We have bought several FlightLine and Freewing aircraft from Motion RC over the last few years and this one was definitely the most challenging to fly. With that being said, it...read moreWe have bought several FlightLine and Freewing aircraft from Motion RC over the last few years and this one was definitely the most challenging to fly. With that being said, it was also one of the most enjoyable because of the ever present challenges. This is a true scale warbird as far as the flight characteristics are concerned. It assembled very well and looks great right out of the box. Be very careful setting this one up as it is very sensitive to control inputs. I would definitely recommend playing around with the rates and expo before putting it in the air. I dialed mine way down and used 20 percent expo on low rates. That was a good starting point for me but everyone is different. Takeoffs need to be gradual and rudder input is needed to keep it straight. If you try yanking it off the ground to early, it will almost definitely stall. It flies very stable at the proper airspeed but you have to stay on it and do not fly it to slow. I setup the approach at about 40 percent power and gradually decreased but kept a good amount of power in before landing. It nosed over on the first try but I did considerably better the second time around. Another great product from Motion RC but an aircraft that really needs to be respected or it will go in the ground fast. Not a beginner airplane by any stretch of the imagination but a great challenge for those looking for it!

My 9 year old was interested in this one and we decided it was a good first scale warbird for him due to its stability. I flew the trim flight for him and it performed as expected. I gradually increased the power and with a little right rudder, it tracked straight down the runway. The climb out was smooth and with a few clicks of down trim, it flew great. I tested the stall characteristics and it was very forgiving overall. I used half flaps for landing due to a 10 mile an hour wind blowing straight down the runway and I figured I did not need the full extension of the flaps and I was right. It settled in very nicely and rolled out smooth as well. My son flew it next and although he was a bit nervous, he handled it very well. He has a lot of stick time with some high wing trainer type aircraft and smaller trainer jets but this was his first go at a warbird and it was everything we expected and more. Another great product from Flightline and Motion RC.

The only thing is that I bought this figure because I was told from motion rc that the RIO in the F-14 twin 64mm was not supplied in the plane. When I got the plane the RIO was installed in the cockpit. No big deal, I’ve decided to keep him for another kit in the future. Customer service though needs to update their files on the plane.

I already had the stock power system at home from another project this plane is excellent for anyone who's flown EDFs before. Only Gripe? motions website says it has the gyro with it and it does not.
