The COSCO Shipping container ships are mid-to-large size ocean-going vessels built for high-capacity international liner service without reaching the extreme size of today’s 400-meter mega container ships. These vessels are approximately 299.9 meters long with a beam of about 48.2 meters, giving them the proportions of a modern wide-beam container ship while still allowing them to operate in a broader range of ports than ultra-large container vessels. Their container capacity is typically listed around the 9,400 TEU class, meaning they are designed to carry just under 10,000 standard twenty-foot equivalent containers on long international routes.

Visually, these ships are recognizable by COSCO Shipping’s blue hull and large white “COSCO SHIPPING” lettering along the hull side. The superstructure is located aft, behind the main container deck, with container bays extending forward across most of the vessel’s length. Like other modern container ships, they rely on carefully planned container loading, ballast control, and port crane operations to maintain safe stability and efficient turnaround times.
