STEM LAB Counter Mechanical 3D Wooden Puzzle Model Kit from UGears - UTG0064
The UGears STEM LAB Counter allows counting of repeated actions with a click button and cylindrical numbered gears. Think of the devices used at the gates of an amusement park or the entryway of a theater to count the number of people entering. This kind of 3-digit mechanical counter is also a crucial part of the modern odometer, found in every car. However, with this home-built model, the uses are only limited by your imagination!
The counter was first invented in ancient Greece by the mathematician and engineer Hero of Alexandria. The device is controlled by a counter button on top and a turn handle on the side. These rotate the cylindrical gears with the numbers 0 to 9 written on them. There are three gears, so this counter can display any number from 0 to 999. The engineering marvel of the device is the Geneva drive that controls the gears. When counting, the drive will increment to the next gear when the previous reaches 9. When you wish to reset the counter, simply open the front panel, and reset manually.
Everything is included, with quality laser-cut wood parts that require no additional adhesives or tools, making assembly of the UGears STEM LAB Counter both enjoyable and educational.
