Speedboats aren't for everyone. Some people want to just stand there and watch a sailboat glide by. But for those who like a little excitement, this boat is fast enough to skim across a small or moderate pond. I used a boat channel about 75 ft wide and I went up and down about 100 ft. in just a few seconds. Steering is very responsive. Throttle is a bit sensitive, not much difference between full throttle and pulling back just before you stop. It comes ready to go, just charge the battery for the boat, install the 9v in the transmitter/controller and drop the boat in the water. As noted by other reviewers, there is no reverse. I had seen the reviews before I ordered, but I would have been disappointed to get it not knowing. I had enough space and did not get stuck on the beach or sandbar, so reverse was not needed. Just be aware so you know what you are buying. The boat does not have a "self-righting hull", but I made some sharp high-speed turns without turning over. It is stable enough for fast runs and hard turns. I did not have a rescue boat ready so I tried to not capsize, but I did test it near the limits. It did not need much rudder trim, but nice to have it on the transmitter. Initially, the price seemed high, but after a little shopping, I think this boat meets a great price point. Much more basic boats for a little less, and slightly larger or more featured boats for a lot more money. This is a good value for an entry level boat to share with the kids. I ordered an extra battery (Admiral LIPO 1000 mAh 2S) for the boat, but have not used it that much yet.

First, this is a fast boat...read moreStarted with the Madshark for me and got this one for my son. Bancroft makes some decent entry level boats for a nice price. First, this is a fast boat for its size. It also turns very quickly. It seems to have a self righting incorporated into the hull design as we have gotten to roll but it rights itself immediately. As was mentioned no reverse but thats due to the flex cable being wound one way. Don't forget to pull the cable and grease it periodically. Electronics bay is a bit cramped but will fit an Admiral 1300 lipo for longer run times. Water cooling pickup is at the bottom of the boat (verses a pickup tube behind the prop) so need some speed to get the water going through the esc/rx and motor. Turn fins on this are metal while the rudder and prop are a decent strength plastic. Overall a fast and fun boat.

          I bought a pair of these boats for my grandson and myself, both arrived with in 4 days, the only thing that surprised me was when I found a 9v...read moreI bought a pair of these boats for my grandson and myself, both arrived with in 4 days, the only thing that surprised me was when I found a 9v battery in the box for the transmitter when the website stated you need 4 AA batteries. the included charger took about 45 minutes to charge the battery which lasted about 8-10 minutes of the grandson run at full power on the lake, the radio range was very good, I took mine out 150-200 feet with no problems, the boat does not have reverse so keep that in mind but will turn on a dime
