The FAA and You: Defining Recreational Flying
by Motion RCIn recent years the popularity of drones or UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) has exploded, manifesting in exponential sales around the country and world. Due to this tremendous popularity the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) took note and quickly formulated a plan to regulate this sector of unmanned, unregulated aircraft flying in US airspace.
If you purchase and plan to fly any drone in the US you must first register it with the FAA here. It's a reasonable $5.00 fee which comes with your own FAA registration number. You must attach that number somewhere onto your drone for identification purposes.
If you would like further clarification on recreational flying of your drone or UAV safely and within the proper guidelines you can visit that section of the FAA's Unmanned Aircraft Systems section of their site by clicking this link.
Take note of the various resources and links the FAA provides in relation to drone flying. It is up to each of us to fly responsibly and safely at all times so the integrity, privilege and joy of RC flight can be enjoyed by many generations to come.
